Silence

Be still and attentive to God’s presence within and all around you

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die;

a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted;

a time to kill and a time to heal;

a time to break down and a time to build up;

a time to weep and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn and a time to dance;

a time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones together;

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;

a time to seek and a time to lose;

a time to keep and a time to throw away;

a time to tear and a time to sew;

a time to keep silent and a time to speak;

a time to love and a time to hate;

a time for war and a time for peace.

Meditation

Close your eyes. Breathe deeply of God’s Spirit and grace.

It is easy, especially this time of year, to fall into old patterns of doing what we've always done. Feelings of duty and obligation can weigh heavy in this season.

Yet God calls us to notice the season, what is ours to hold or carry in this season and what is not. It is faithful to release what is not ours to make room for what is--including our own needs.

Reflection

+ What do you need right now? Today? This week? In this season?

+ How can you make room for that?

Silence

Breathe deeply of God’s Spirit and grace.

A Prayer for You as a Ministry Leader

Hold your hands or arms in a posture of receiving.

Gracious Lord Jesus, pour out your Spirit on your servant, (name). Move in them/me to notice what is needed and what is not. Attune their/my heart to your Spirit. Free them/me from duty and obligation so they/I can make room for what is theirs/mine in this season. Amen.

Blessing

In darkness and in light, you are held, you are loved, you are enough. Amen.
